Crafting lets you expand your skills beyond combat. The skill has two activities: breaking equipment for materials and creating new items. You need an iron hammer to start. Get one from the Iron Hammer quest in Minotaur Mountain (Kazoordon).
Only one iron hammer can be acquired per character. If you lose it, buy one from other players or complete the quest with another character.
Breaking Items
Materials like steels, hell steels, and draconian steels come from breaking equipment. Common steels come from low-tier items; hell and draconian steels from stronger gear.
To break items, buy an anvil from A Sweaty Cyclops for 5,000 gold and place it in your house, or use any anvil on the world map. Put the equipment on the anvil and use your iron hammer on it.
The base break chance is 10% plus (0.597% x (crafting skill - 10)). Stronger equipment needs higher skill. Below the minimum skill, you only get a spark effect.
Items bought from NPCs have protected metals and cannot be broken. Only player-crafted or looted equipment can be broken down.

Crafting Items
If you have the Blacksmith profession, you can craft items. Place the required materials on the anvil and strike with the iron hammer. Higher crafting skill speeds up the process and improves success chance.
Success rate is 10% x the item's crafting skill multiplier.
